Sesc joins Gostoso Film Festival 2025 with a residency in curatorship and exhibition to strengthen the audiovisual sector.
Sesc takes part in the 2025 edition of the Gostoso Film Festival with the “Residency in Curatorship and Cinematographic Exhibition”, a strategic action for the audiovisual field that gathers curators from all Brazilian regions for training, programming research and institutional collaboration. The activity runs from November 20 to 24.
The initiative turns the Festival into a living laboratory, as participants attend screenings, analyze the films collectively and discuss aesthetic, thematic and audience trends within contemporary Brazilian audiovisual production.
The residency enhances Sesc’s national perspective while considering each state’s specific context. It strengthens the collaborative development of the CineSesc Collection, which licenses feature films for free screenings at Sesc units. It also contributes to reflections on the Sesc Film Festival and programming strategies for non-commercial venues and circuits across the country.
The schedule includes daily analysis sessions and an exclusive meeting between the Sesc Audiovisual Network and the Festival organizers, Eugênio Puppo and Matheus Sundfeld, as well as curators Janaína Oliveira, Mariana Souza and Carine Fiuza. The conversation focuses on curatorship, programming and the sustainability of sector events.
The general coordination is led by Sesc’s National Department, represented by Lorran Dias and Wagner Bettero, with support from Sesc Rio Grande do Norte, represented by Francisco Gaudencio. The residency reinforces Sesc’s role as a strategic agent for the circulation of Brazilian works, audience development and the strengthening of the audiovisual chain.
Sesc’s presence at the Festival deepens the connection between culture and territory by valuing outdoor screenings, engagement with local communities, creative economy initiatives and mediation practices that broaden access to cinema.
The 12th Gostoso Film Festival is presented by the Ministry of Culture, Petrobras and the Government of Rio Grande do Norte. The event is sponsored by Salinor, the Government of Rio Grande do Norte, the State Department of Culture – SECULT, Fundação José Augusto, the Câmara Cascudo Law and Banco do Nordeste.
