13 Years of Irreverence in BH Carnival
The Bloco Fúnebre turns the infamous Friday the 13th into pure celebration. Founded in 2013 by Leo Lima and Flávia Ribeiro, it blends mysticism, humor, and social critique.Gathering kicks off at 11pm at Praça da Bandeira. The parade starts at midnight and heads down Avenida Afonso Pena to Praça Milton Campos, drawing thousands of revelers.
We’ve always seen carnival as a space for reimagining. If common sense calls a day ‘unlucky,’ our answer is to turn it into a joyful gathering — our way: dark, affectionate, and full of humor.
Founder Leo Lima shares this outlook. Flávia Ribeiro adds that the theme playfully tackles collective fears in a festive, carnival spirit.
