A massive crowd filled Pedro Álvares Cabral Ave: Quintal dos Prettos debuted at Carnaval Pipoca 2026 as Monobloco delivered a landmark parade
On pre-Carnival Sunday, the area around Ibirapuera Park turned into a sea of revelers. Both groups marched along the Circuito Ibirapuera route, drawing people across the avenue.
Quintal dos Prettos debuts on Circuito Ibirapuera
Quintal dos Prettos opened the day with its official debut at São Paulo’s street carnival. The parade brought the energy of independent, community-driven samba—rooted in the outskirts—into the heart of the city.
Founded by Magnu Sousá, Maurílio de Oliveira, and Margareth Valentim, the bloco featured special guests Emicida and Maria Rita. Erika Moura (Globeleza) appeared as the parade’s queen.
Monobloco closes with a Brazilian mix
Monobloco then wrapped the afternoon with an upbeat, inclusive procession. Led by maestro Celso Alvim, the group blended samba, pagode, forró, Bahia rhythms, and original songs into a single flowing set.
Highlights included Arrastão da Alegria and Funk do Monobloco. For 2026, the theme “Pode” Entrar que a Casa é Sua (“Come on in—make yourself at home”) underlined the group’s open-door spirit.
Marking its 10th year parading in São Paulo—and 26 years of history overall—Monobloco also paid tribute to Arlindo Cruz, Preta Gil, and Jorge Aragão, spotlighting multiple generations of Brazilian music in one shared celebration.
