Free Easter fun at 4 Rio malls: workshops, hunts & bunny

Four Rio de Janeiro shopping centers offer free Easter programming with workshops, theater, chocolate hunts and the Easter Bunny in March and April.

Ilha Plaza: Mini Chefs workshop and photo spot on Ilha do Governador

Ilha Plaza Shopping hosts its Fun Easter event on Saturdays, March 28 and April 4, on Floor L3. All activities are free and designed for families with young children.

The day kicks off at 2 PM with Children’s Painting, redeemed through the shopping center’s app. From 3 PM, 4 PM and 5 PM, the spotlight turns to the Mini Easter Chefs Workshops — hands-on cooking classes with a seasonal twist. Spots are limited; sign up via WhatsApp at (21) 98005-0693.

To close the evening, the classic Chocolate Hunt runs from 6 PM to 10 PM, with coupon redemption through the official app. The mall has also set up a special Instagram-worthy backdrop throughout the event. Each visitor is entitled to one complimentary photo taken by Estúdio Fotográfico Marcia Lima, with additional prints available for purchase.

Via Brasil Shopping: ballet, choir and Easter theater in Irajá

Via Brasil Shopping brings a culturally rich Easter program, running from March 26 to April 5 in the Food Court, with something for every age group.

The opening night falls on Thursday, March 26, at 6 PM, with a graceful ballet performance by Escola Sonho Encantado. On Saturday, March 28, at 2 PM, kids roll up their sleeves for the Easter Cookie and Bobbies Goods Workshops — on-site registration opens 30 minutes before each session.

Sunday, March 29, brings a meet-and-greet with live characters starting at 4 PM, perfect for photos and interaction. On Good Friday, April 3, at 6 PM, an Easter choir performance moves the audience in the Food Court.

The highlight of the holiday weekend arrives on Saturday, April 4, at 2 PM: the grand Easter Bunny appearance and traditional Egg Hunt. The season wraps up on Sunday, April 5, at 2:30 PM with an Easter Theater performance by Chapel João Paulo II.

Taquara Plaza: cookie workshop, theater and chocolate hunt

Taquara Plaza Shopping presents Páscoa Recheada (Stuffed Easter) on March 28–29 and April 4, always starting at 3 PM in the Clubinho play area (Floor L3). Activities are designed for children ages 3 to 11, with limited spots.

On Saturday, March 28, the Cookie Workshop welcomes up to 100 children in groups of 15, with sessions lasting roughly 20 minutes each. Sunday, March 29 is all about storytelling with the children’s play “The Coelho Family Easter”, running from 3 PM to 4 PM.

On Saturday, April 4, from 3 PM to 7 PM, the fun peaks with the Chocolate Hunt (150 spots), an Easter Parade, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Sign-ups happen on-site, in order of arrival, 15 minutes before each session. Children must be present to receive their ID bracelet, and a parent or legal guardian must remain nearby throughout.

Américas Shopping: theater, Meet & Greet and chocolate workshop in Recreio

Américas Shopping rounds out Rio’s Easter calendar with three days of free events, from April 3 to 5, on the Américas Stage (Floor L2).

On Friday, April 3, at 4 PM, children kick off with the Egg Hunt and the Easter Bunny’s arrival. On Saturday, April 4, the Bunny Ears Workshop opens at 4 PM, followed by the theater show “The Fantastic Easter Bunny Factory” at 5:30 PM. A Meet & Greet with the Easter Bunny for photos runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The season closes on Sunday, April 5, at 4 PM with the Chocolate Egg Workshop. Spots are limited; register through the mall’s app under the Clube + section.
