Brazil scores 95 points and joins the global wine map

For the first time, Tim Atkin recognizes Brazil as an independent wine category, with wines scoring up to 95 points.

The Brazilian wine industry reached a new milestone in international recognition with the release of the Brazil 2026 Special Report, written by renowned British critic Tim Atkin. The report positions Brazil as an independent wine-producing category, boosting its reputation among global importers, distributors, and wine opinion leaders.

The tasting process was led by wine educator Gabriela Zimmer, Tim Atkin’s South America specialist, during a technical visit held from October 25 to 31, 2025. More than 200 labels from 47 Brazilian wineries across different regions were evaluated as part of the Wines of Brazil Project, coordinated by Consevitis-RS in partnership with ApexBrasil.

The report highlights Brazilian wines achieving up to 95 points, underscoring international-level excellence. It also emphasizes the country’s strong identity in sparkling wine production—crafted through both the Traditional and Charmat methods—and the organization of Geographical Indications (GI) and Designations of Origin (DO).

Now available on Tim Atkin’s official platforms, the Brazil 2026 Special Report places Brazil firmly on the global wine scene and confirms its growing influence among the world’s leading wine producers.
