Conceição Evaristo, star of Império Serrano’s plot, signs books for R$15 this Tuesday in Madureira, fueling pre-Carnival with accessible Black literature.
Autograph Night Boosts Cultural Ties
Writer Conceição Evaristo, honoree of the plot “Ponciá Evaristo Flor do Mulungu”, actively joins Império Serrano‘s pre-Carnival. On Tuesday (10th), from 7pm, she hosts a signing session at the school’s quadra in Madureira.
Open to the Imperio community, books sell for a low R$15. All proceeds support the school’s Carnival 2026 preparations.
I have been very active in this pre-Carnival because I believe the plot affirms our memory and writing. Bringing my books to Império Serrano’s quadra treats literature as a citizen’s right, a democratic and accessible action. The low price eases access, broadens community dialogue, and aids the school’s Carnival—a space of education, culture, and resistance.
Evaristo’s involvement blends Black literature, memory, and identity with samba traditions. It strengthens the plot ahead of the parade.
Império Serrano Heads to Sapucaí
The school parades Saturday (14th) as fourth in the night at Marquês de Sapucaí, in the Gold Series. The signing event ramps up rehearsals and community spirit.
