Author Juliana Montanari is joining São José dos Campos’ March cultural calendar with two public events centered on conversation, community, and women’s contemporary writing. Her book As oito mulheres (“The Eight Women”) has drawn attention for linking fiction to mental health themes.

The title is a short-story collection that traces multiple layers of women’s lived experience through narratives shaped by memory, trauma, affection, and silence. Across concise, intense stories, the book connects characters from different regions of Brazil, inviting readers into each woman’s stream of thought.

Women’s Month events in São José dos Campos

The first event takes place on March 8 (Saturday), at 3 p.m., at Livraria Mantiqueira. Montanari joins psychologist Charlene Carvalho for a talk focused on women’s writing, shared experiences, and literature as a tool for resistance and transformation.

On March 13 (Thursday), at 10 a.m., she hosts the official book launch at the Cassiano Ricardo Public Library. The moment is especially meaningful in the city where she lives, expanding access to a work that has sparked conversations about mental health.

“Trazer a interseccionalidade da mulher preta, trans, lgbt, pcd e as suas múltiplas singularidades, merece luz na escrita”, said Juliana Montanari.

Where to buy “As oito mulheres”
