The first issue of MAPA magazine turns the Moving Image Exhibition’s experiences into reflections on memory, landscape, and artistic creation.
The MAPA magazine launch presents a sensitive synthesis of the artistic experiences crossing Maranhão and Pará, connected by the Carajás Railway (EFC). The publication gathers interviews, essays, and images that expand the dialogue between art, territory, and community.
Available in digital and physical formats, the journal offers free access to cultural institutions and the general public. The content is available on MAPA’s official Instagram @mostramapa. The articles reveal the artists’ creative processes and the team’s reflections on the project’s development.
“The magazine condenses processes, memories, and traces gifted by the territory. It isn’t a summary of what happened, but a continuation of what still resonates,” explains general coordinator João Pacca.
Highlights include the curatorial manifesto and introductory letter, which call for responsibility, listening, and observation as foundations of artistic creation. The magazine connects memory and time, guiding readers through stories that explore movement, landscape, and the body as language.
The launch also marks the expansion of the MAPA Exhibition as a space for recording and reflecting on the narratives of its territories. The publication anticipates the festival’s upcoming edition, scheduled for May 2026 in São Luís and Belém, closing in Brasília in June.
The Moving Image Exhibition – MAPA is produced by OPACCA Produção de Imagem, with support from Vale through the Railway Memory Preservation Fund (RPMF) under ANTT regulation.
