The closing event takes place on June 16 at 7 PM at Sesc São Paulo’s Centro de Pesquisa e Formação. Registration opens on Sesc’s website in the last week of May.
Economic and educational impact
Participating entrepreneurs also took part in a business training program in partnership with Sebrae, focused on financial management, operations, and marketing. Additional training was provided through a bar and restaurant management course by Abrasel, Bares SP, and Esbre.
“Many of these entrepreneurs arrived in Brazil recently and found in gastronomy a concrete possibility of rebuilding their lives. In this context, the guide works not only as a promotional tool, but as an instrument of structural support for these businesses, expanding their growth opportunities and integration into the local market. The combination of encouraging conscious consumption and business training reinforces the project’s commitment to real and lasting economic impact.”
Renan Cyrillo, Executive Director of Bela Vista Cultural
The guide also includes pedagogical materials, an audiobook, Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) content, and audio description. A portion of the print run will be distributed free of charge to public schools and cultural institutions.

Bela Vista Cultural releases São Paulo’s first gastronomic guide dedicated to immigrant cuisine, featuring 33 restaurants and promotional discount coupons.
A city written through food
São Paulo has always been shaped by immigration — and now, for the first time, it has a tourist and gastronomic guide dedicated exclusively to 21st-century immigrant cuisine. Published by Bela Vista Cultural, the guide maps 33 restaurants, bars, and cafés run by immigrants of different generations who live and work in Brazil’s largest city.
The publication focuses on the most recent migration waves, bringing together entrepreneurs from Latin America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia. For many of them, food has been the most concrete path toward rebuilding their lives and connecting with Brazilian society.
Inside the guide
The guide is divided into two sections. The first offers a historical and cultural overview of São Paulo’s food scene, tracing the city’s identity through its successive waves of migration. The second half presents each participating establishment through the stories of its owners, their families, and the characteristics of their kitchens.
To be included, businesses had to be led by a first-generation immigrant or immediate family members who remain actively involved in daily operations.
Featured restaurants
Among the 33 spots featured are Al Janiah, Café Colombiano, Cho Sun Gal Bi, Casa Turca, Cusco Cozinha Peruana, Hong Bin, Ombra Bar, and Ton Hoi. The printed guide includes 10% discount coupons on the bill at participating venues, designed to bring new audiences to these establishments and encourage exploration across the city’s neighborhoods.
Launch events
The launch program spans April to June 2026 and combines dinners at participating restaurants, a guided walking tour, and an institutional talk.
Guia Nights
The Guia Nights series brings free public events to the participating restaurants themselves. Each evening includes an institutional opening, a personal statement from the founder, audience interaction, and a formal tribute to the establishment. Admission is free — arrive one hour before the start time.
The guide will be available for purchase at each event. Buyers receive a coupon redeemable for a special item chosen by the hosting restaurant that evening.
