“Speak as little as possible” and sleep a lot: the singer shares backstage secrets of his 4-hour marathon on Salvador’s Carnival trio.
Surviving more than four hours on Salvador’s electric trio requires far more than energy. At Camarote Expresso 2222, the Gil family’s space, Russo Passapusso, lead vocalist of BaianaSystem, revealed the rigorous routine he maintains before the festivities. “The first thing I do is dream a lot. I’m a man of dreams and nightmares. The most important care of all is sleep,” the artist shared at Natura’s beauty and self-care station.
Preparation begins a month in advance. “Speech therapy is essential, speaking as little as possible and always having the inhaler. A month before, we start physical work, training,” Russo explained. Vocal care is top priority for someone who needs to lead the party without compromising their voice.
Carnival as collective cultivation
Inspired by the campaign ‘Tem cultura, tem mistura, tem Natura’ (There’s culture, there’s mixture, there’s Natura), Russo described the “mixture” of Carnival as a “great collective cultivation”. In a poetic perspective, he sees beyond the revelry: “I see people walking, leaving carnival, returning to the circuit, the micro carnivals, the people working, this calendar that is magical above all else”.
Emotional tribute to Preta Gil
This year, the venue pays tribute to singer Preta Gil. Journalist Pâmela Lucciola, married to Russo, became emotional when speaking about the honoree. “Preta is a role model as a woman, who always used her presence to open spaces for other people,” she stated.

Self-care during the marathon
Pâmela also shared her care routine during carnival. “The first care is managing to rest when I have the opportunity, drinking plenty of water,” she advised. The journalist revealed her Natura allies: “Today I’m wearing this orange Mono eyeshadow from Natura Faces, the energizing facial mist from Tododia Energia which is also very good, and a serum to deeply hydrate the skin before applying makeup”.
“I work during Carnival, so I wear a lot of makeup, using good Natura products makes all the difference,” Pâmela concluded.
