TV presenter Gardênia Cavalcanti, host of the show Vem com a Gente on Band Rio, was the theme of Tradição samba school’s parade in the early hours of Monday (16) at Intendente Magalhães, competing in the Silver Series. The storyline “The Girl from the Backlands Who Became a TV Star” brought to the avenue the broadcaster’s story from Santana do Ipanema, in rural Alagoas, to her establishment in Rio de Janeiro television.

Gardênia entered as the featured performer on the Opening Tripod, elevated on a golden star with her name prominently displayed. Her costume was a strapless gown embroidered with silver crystals, featuring a side slit and white feather embellishments. In her hands, she held a rosary — a symbol of the faith that marked her journey.

Emotion and resilience

The narrative covered three moments: her childhood in Brazil’s northeastern backlands, youth challenges, and professional rise in television. After the parade, visibly moved, the presenter shared what the honor meant to her.

When everything ended and I saw the floats passing by, I started crying. I saw my photos, remembered my journey, my family and my son there, experiencing this with me. This moment honors my father, my mother, my grandfather and all the women who raised their children with courage and dignity. It’s a story of determination. Gardênia Cavalcanti

Message to women

Known for her work on social causes, especially focused on women’s empowerment, Gardênia took the opportunity to leave a message to Brazilian women. “We’re living through a very difficult time, with so much violence against women. Don’t accept less, don’t accept disrespect in the name of love. Love cares, supports, gives wings,” she declared.

Tradição bet on the public’s connection with the broadcaster’s story of overcoming challenges and the power of samba to move the audience at Intendente Magalhães. The parade solidified the school as one of the Silver Series favorites.
