Berço Elétrico hits Vila Mariana on Feb 15 with a Calm Space for neurodivergent kids, a pet area, and free entry for families.
A well-known street Carnival option for families with babies and young children, Bloco Berço Elétrico returns in 2026 on Sunday, February 15, starting at 10 a.m., in Vila Mariana, São Paulo. The gathering point is Av. Luís Gomes Cardim Sangirardi, near No. 200, between Ana Rosa and Vila Mariana metro stations.
Calm Space and sensory support
The biggest new feature is the Calm Space, a sensory-friendly area designed to welcome children on the autism spectrum and other neurodivergent kids. It also offers a quieter break for children who need time away from the noise and visual intensity of Carnival.
With support from a therapist, the Calm Space will run interactive activities and guided actions. The idea is to widen the event’s approach to comfort and safety, making the experience more welcoming for different needs.
“O Berço Elétrico surgiu para resgatar o Carnaval de rua como um espaço de convivência para famílias com crianças pequenas, e hoje evolui também como um bloco inclusivo, que pensa em acolher todos os públicos”, afirma Diogo Rios, idealizador do projeto.
Pet area and family-focused facilities
Another 2026 addition is a dedicated zone for families bringing their four-legged companions, a crowd that has grown year after year. The event also keeps its Family Space, combining a diaper-changing station and nursing area, plus children’s restrooms, rest zones, and accessibility features.
Music, volume monitoring, and Libras
As in previous editions, attendees can expect food stalls and a lively soundtrack blending Carnival marches, kids’ songs, classic axé, and hits from the 1980s and 1990s. Organizers monitor decibel levels to protect children’s hearing, and the event includes Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) interpreters.
Clowns and circus performers circulate throughout the event, keeping the party playful and child-centered.
From a modified crib to a beloved block
Created in 2018 by Diogo Rios and Julia Maturana, Berço Elétrico began when the couple modified their child’s crib to bring the baby to street Carnival with comfort and safety. The idea went viral and has since drawn thousands of families each year.
