The actress stepped out of a car mid-parade, danced samba, and hinted at a TV comeback in 2026 — all in one night.
Brazilian actress Carla Diaz opened the third night of parades at the iconic Marquês de Sapucaí in Rio de Janeiro in a way no one saw coming. As a guest of an automobile brand launch, she rode down the avenue inside the vehicle, stepped out onto the runway, and broke into samba — turning a marketing moment into a full-on Carnival highlight.
An adventurous entrance on the avenue
“I was invited to parade in this different way, which was absolutely magical. I never imagined I’d open this night of samba school parades in such an adventurous fashion,” Diaz said, visibly moved by the experience.
The stunt was part of a bold car launch campaign that chose Brazil’s most celebrated Carnival stage as its backdrop. Casting Carla Diaz as the face of the moment was no coincidence — she has deep roots in samba culture and remains one of the country’s most beloved public figures.
Carnival as a symbol of unity
After her turn on the avenue, Diaz joined the celebrations at a VIP box and spoke candidly about what Carnival means to her.
“Carnival means joy, love, fun, and also unity. You see a great union among the samba schools — a team that works all year long to make Carnival happen, to make this spectacle. To me, it’s one of the greatest shows on earth.” — Carla Diaz, actress
22 years with Grande Rio
The night carried extra emotional weight as Diaz watched Grande Rio — the samba school she paraded with for over two decades — take to the avenue. “For 22 years, I paraded with Grande Rio. It’s the school I root for and come to watch. The emotion of being here is very different because everything ends up being a surprise,” she said.
Soap opera negotiations underway
Beyond the festivities, Carla Diaz dropped a hint that fans have been waiting for. An offer to star in a new telenovela is on the table, with negotiations currently in progress.
“There has been an invitation, yes, to do a soap opera, and we’re in negotiations. The audience will know soon,” she teased, keeping the details close but confirming a possible return to TV screens in 2026.
