Esculhambloco hits Jurerê OPEN this Thursday (Jan 22) at 7 pm, launching a free Carnival warm-up program through Feb 12.
Jurerê OPEN, in Jurerê in_ (Florianópolis), is jumping ahead of the official dates with its Carnival warm-up schedule. Running from Jan 22 to Feb 12 with free admission, the lineup brings together block rehearsals, samba circles, live shows and DJs in an open-air setting.
The official opening starts at 7 pm with a rehearsal by Esculhambloco, Jurerê’s official bloco. Locals and visitors meet at Platform 2, near Patagonia, for the group’s first-ever performance at the venue.
From there, the Thursday rehearsals return weekly, positioning Jurerê OPEN as a go-to gathering point for pre-Carnival nights in the neighborhood. The concept stays light, welcoming and focused on spotlighting local artists and community traditions.
Fridays lean heavily into Brazilian rhythms with two highlights. The OPEN Samba Circle takes over Platform 2 (in front of Patagonia) on Jan 23 and Jan 30 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Also on Jan 23 at 8 pm, Samba do Gigio plays at the Platform 1 Lounge with an upbeat set designed for a long night out.
On Feb 12, the energy ramps up with simultaneous attractions. DJ Marcelo Siqueira plays at the Platform 1 Lounge from 7 pm to 10 pm, while Esculhambloco returns with another rehearsal starting at 7 pm.
Jurerê OPEN also plans special programming during the official Carnival days, with options for all ages—an alternative for anyone who wants the Carnival spirit in Florianópolis in a relaxed, outdoor environment.
