Feijoada for R$62 packs Al Farabi with roots samba and fresh blocs during Carnival in Rio’s Center.

Signature feijoada steals the show

Al Farabi, bar and bookstore in downtown Rio with Boulevard Olímpico space, serves complete feijoada for R$62. Black beans with jerked beef, pork loin, tail, smoked sausage and linguiça. Paired with white rice, kale and orange, served separately.

Available every Carnival event day, it fuels revelers.

Lineup you can’t miss

Thursday, Feb 12, 6pm, pre-Carnival warmup with Tupife bloc. Draws from Northeastern pífano bands, mixing Brazilian and global tunes.

Saturday, Feb 14, 2pm, André Diniz Ball marks 14 years of roots Carnival. Samba circle features Chico Alves, Pedro Paulo, Tomaz Miranda, Pratinha, Mauricio Massunaga, Alana Moraes, Dinho, Marcelo Pizzot, Marco Basilio, Bruno Barreto, Silverio Pontes, Serginho Castanheira, Dirceu Leite, Maionese, Kiko Horta and others. Draws costumed crowds downtown.

Sunday, Feb 15, 4pm, debut of Chico Alves Bloc, MPB heavyweight.

Ash Wednesday, Feb 18, 3pm, Results Feijoada with Aydano André Motta and Leonardo Bruno.

Feb 22, 2pm, seventh Mãe Boêmia by Marina Gonçalves. Theme “Carnival Hangovers”. All-women samba circle: Camila Gonzaga, Natália Aisengart, Iris Lacava, Patrícia Palombini from As Saideiras. Carnival songs, workshops, book launch, games. Dress up. Kids’ fun with Kidimi Brincante, bouncy castle. Stilt-walking workshop by Roda Ser Cultural. Launch of Explorers’ Guide – Rio de Janeiro by Mangaio Editoras. Maps 70 spots: parks, museums, trails, plazas, culture hubs with tips, facts, secret missions on heritage, nature, Rio culture.
