Giovana Cordeiro brings CarnaNóiz to Cidade de Deus

Giovana Cordeiro joins CarnaNóiz this Saturday in Cidade de Deus, with a street bloco, samba drumming, a featured dancer, and kids’ activities. The carnival event takes place on Saturday, 02/14, starting at 10am, gathering at the NGO Nóiz headquarters in Cidade de Deus, in Rio’s Jacarepaguá area.

Cordeiro is the godmother of NGO Nóiz and a muse for Porto da Pedra samba school. She will join the bloco as it moves through the area known as Rocinha 2, in Karatê. After meeting at the headquarters, the group heads out with samba and classic carnival marches for local children and their families.

The program also includes passista Keyce Oliveira and the percussion section of Coroado de Jacarepaguá samba school, from Cidade de Deus. Meanwhile, kids’ recreational activities are supported by Animax, with additional backing from Fernando Kalache Advogados. Organizers say the event is open to the public—anyone who wants to join can simply show up.

In late January, the actress visited the space for the first time, met participants, and took part in a carnival accessories workshop with children served by the project. The visit was part of the build-up to CarnaNóiz and set the tone for this weekend’s celebration in the community.
