Rio’s iconic Império Serrano marks 79 years with free entry, live samba by Marquinho Sathan and school’s show on March 23.
Next Monday (23), the legendary Império Serrano celebrates its 79th anniversary with a major free event at its Madureira headquarters. Starting at 6 p.m., the party will bring together fans and the local community for an unforgettable samba night.
The celebration begins with a blessing of thanksgiving for the school’s 79-year journey. Then, Grupo Ekilibrio takes the stage to open the night’s musical program full of rhythm and tradition.
A highlight of the evening is the samba circle led by Marquinho Sathan, featuring songs that marked his career. The night ends with the Império Serrano show ensemble, led by Vitor Cunha, performing unforgettable samba-enredos from the school’s history.
“Celebrating 79 years of Império Serrano means honoring our history, our community, and everyone who built this rich legacy,” said president Flávio França.
According to França, the open-air celebration reinforces the school’s deep sense of belonging. “We wanted a free event for the people — Império Serrano is about roots, heritage, and unity,” he added.
