“All You Could Be” becomes Lagum na Avenida’s theme, bringing a Clube da Esquina nod to the Feb. 15 street parade in BH
Lagum has revealed the 2026 theme for Lagum na Avenida: “All You Could Be” (“Tudo que você podia ser”). It lands as both a statement of identity and a carnival-sized invitation to imagination. The title references the classic song by brothers Lô Borges and Márcio Borges, released in 1972 on “Clube da Esquina,” and frames the bloco as a tribute to Minas Gerais’ musical legacy.
A tribute rooted in Clube da Esquina
Frontman Pedro Calais says the choice is about honoring the artists who came before. In his view, the song’s “road” imagery mirrors the band’s own life on tour — the courage it takes to leave home, leave Minas, and carry their sound across Brazil.
“It’s a tribute to Minas music and to everyone who came before us.”
Calais adds that “All You Could Be” represents the strength of their roots and the drive to let music cross mountains while keeping respect for our origin at the center.
Visual identity by Anna Brandão
The theme’s illustration is signed by artist Anna Brandão. Her concept places Belo Horizonte inside a “universe of possibilities,” weaving in references to the city, to Minas Gerais, and to Lagum’s own visual imagination.
Calais also ties the title to carnival itself: a season of freedom, invention, and experimentation, where anyone can play at being whoever they want. That idea shaped the bloco’s 2026 look and feel.
Date, meet-up time, and route
Lagum na Avenida hits the streets on February 15 (Carnival Sunday). The meet-up time is set for 7 a.m., keeping the same route used in recent years.
The concentration point is at Rua Sergipe and Avenida Cristóvão Colombo, near Praça da Liberdade, before the parade moves along Avenida Brasil. For this year, the band expects more than 100,000 people to follow the procession.
Sponsorship and production
The project is sponsored by Guaraná Antárctica through the State Culture Incentive Law of Minas Gerais. It is produced by MacacoLab and the Government of Minas Gerais — “Aqui o trem próspera.”
The bloco is also co-produced by A Macaco, a Belo Horizonte events company and music label behind Festival Sarará. Since 2014, the group has supported the city’s street carnival with initiatives aimed at fundraising, partner connections, and project development to strengthen parade viability.
