Union of Maricá brings Rio’s carnival spirit to the world’s largest real estate event, MIPIM, in the French Riviera.
The rhythms of samba crossed the ocean to light up the Riviera. The Union of Maricá performed on Tuesday (10) at MIPIM in Cannes, bringing the energy and identity of Rio de Janeiro’s carnival to the world stage of urban development and real estate.
The school performed at Maricá’s stand in the Palais des Festivals and also at the event’s official opening at the iconic Hotel Martinez. It marks another milestone in the school’s international expansion, following its 2025 performance at the International Tourism Fair in Havana, Cuba.
For samba dancer Andressa Campos, it was an emotional experience. “Union of Maricá has evolved so much. I’m honored to be here representing our culture abroad,” she said.
With over 90 countries represented, MIPIM gathers global leaders and investors. Samba turned into a bridge between cultures. Musician Dudu noted: “It’s a unique opportunity to bring Maricá’s samba and make everyone dance and sing.”
Drummer Tailly Garcia from the Maricadência percussion group added: “It’s my first international trip. Representing Maricá abroad is a dream come true.”
The Union of Maricá will perform again on Thursday (12) at MIPIM, sharing the stage with Samba icons Neguinho da Beija-Flor and Moacyr Luz.
