União do Parque Acari confirmed on social media its new Queen for Carnaval 2026. The title goes to dancer Maya Chason, a samba artist with an established résumé and recognition both in Brazil and abroad.

With 15 years devoted to samba, Maya built her professional career in the United States. She became known for strong stage presence, technical precision, and a clear commitment to keeping Brazilian Carnival culture visible on international stages.

Carnaval 2026 will also be a milestone: it will be Maya’s fourth time performing at the Marquês de Sapucaí. The return strengthens her bond with the Sambadrome and with Acari’s community-driven parade.

From samba schools to global stages

Over the years, Maya has danced with well-known samba schools, including Unidos da Ponte. She also holds a prominent role at GRES Alegria do Vilar, which competes in the Série Prata.

Her international profile includes appearances on high-audience TV shows and performances alongside celebrated Brazilian music artists. For Carnaval, that experience translates into performance range and a sharper artistic delivery.

União do Parque Acari’s parade date

Competing in Liga RJ’s Série Ouro, União do Parque Acari will parade on February 13, as the third school to enter the Marquês de Sapucaí runway.

“Brasiliana” highlights popular culture

For Carnaval 2026, the school will bring the theme “Brasiliana”, created by carnival designer Guilherme Estevão. The concept celebrates Brazilian popular culture with a show built on identity, artistry, and tradition.
