At 25 meters high, Mercado Pago’s “Floating Lounge” gives guests a unique new perspective on Rio Carnival’s top samba parades.
Mercado Pago, the financial arm of Mercado Libre and official sponsor of Rio Carnival 2026, has unveiled an unprecedented experience at the Marquês de Sapucaí: the Floating Lounge. For the first time since the Sambadrome’s opening in 1984, spectators will enjoy a third point of view — literally above the avenue.
Set up about 25 meters above the ground in Sector 9, right by the second “bateria” pause, the structure promises to redefine how people experience Carnival. Each ascent will host 10 guests, operating six times per night over the four nights of the Special Group parades, ensuring an exclusive and safe experience.
“The Floating Lounge is a unique concept that offers a new view of the parades while ensuring comfort and safety,” said Pethra Ferraz, Mercado Pago’s VP of Marketing for Latin America.
According to Ferraz, the initiative reflects the brand’s strategy to turn presence into meaningful experiences by combining entertainment, visibility, and immersion. The project is designed and produced by the Haute agency, which signs all Mercado Pago’s experience architecture at Sapucaí.
