The 8th edition of ‘Baile Concerto – A Saideira’ brings together Brazil’s Bahian Carnival and orchestral music live from Salvador’s iconic Concha Acústica, this Sunday at 7 PM.
Symphony meets Carnival on one stage
The Bahia Symphony Orchestra (OSBA) presents the eighth edition of Baile Concerto – A Saideira this Sunday (Feb. 22) at 7 PM, broadcasting live from the Concha Acústica at Teatro Castro Alves in Salvador, Brazil. The concert weaves orchestral arrangements into the rhythms of Bahian Carnival, celebrating samba, axé, and Afro-Brazilian musical traditions.
Musical direction and conducting fall to Maestro Carlos Prazeres, with artistic direction by Manno Goés. Together, they shape a program that honors the diverse rhythmic roots of Salvador’s street celebration.
A star-studded guest lineup
The guest roster spans some of Bahia’s most beloved voices. Alinne Rosa, Cortejo Afro, Illy, Larissa Luz, Nelson Rufino, Robson Morais, Serginho do Adão Negro, and Zeca Veloso will all take the stage for a festive, genre-crossing set.
OSBA’s own violinist Mário Soares and soprano Raquel Paulin also have featured roles, highlighting the depth of talent within the orchestra itself.
