Rio Metro Extends Hours for Samba Rehearsals!

Samba rehearsals kick off this weekend at Sapucaí, with MetrôRio stretching boarding at Praça Onze and Central stations until 4am Fridays, plus security boosts.

Extended hours at key stations

Série Ouro presentations heat up Sapucaí on January 23, 24, and 25. MetrôRio extends boarding at Praça Onze and Central do Brasil/Centro to handle the crowds.

Fridays (23, 30/01, 6/02): until 4am. Saturdays (24, 31/01, 7/02) and Sundays (25/01, 1, 8/02): until 2:30am. Other stations open post-hours for exit only.

Extra staff and pro tips

Boosted security and station teams, focused near the Sambódromo. Load cards ahead or tap-to-pay at turnstiles to skip lines.

Line transfers and best stops

Fridays: Line 2 from Pavuna to Botafogo; Lines 1-2 switch from Central to Botafogo. Weekends: Line 2 to General Osório/Ipanema; switch from Central to Ipanema.

Odd sectors or near “Balança Mas Não Cai”: exit at Central do Brasil/Centro. Even sectors or Post Office side: Praça Onze.

Metro Lines 1, 2, 4 Hours

Fridays (23, 30/01, 6/02): 5am-midnight, extended to 4am at Praça Onze and Central do Brasil/Centro.

Saturdays (24, 31/01, 7/02): 5am-midnight, extended to 2:30am at Praça Onze and Central do Brasil/Centro.

Sundays (25/01, 1, 8/02): 7am-11pm, extended to 2:30am at Praça Onze and Central do Brasil/Centro.

Lines 1-2 Transfers

Fridays (23, 30/01, 6/02): Central do Brasil/Centro to Botafogo.

Saturdays (24, 31/01, 7/02) and Sundays (25/01, 1, 8/02): Central do Brasil/Centro to General Osório/Ipanema.
