Band Rio presenter becomes theme of Tradição samba school parade this Sunday with “The Girl from the Backlands Who Became a TV Star”
The host of the show “Vem com a Gente” on Band Rio, Gardênia Cavalcanti, is the honoree of the Tradição samba school parade theme in Rio de Janeiro for Carnival 2026. The parade takes place this Sunday (15) at Intendente Magalhães, in the Silver Series of Brazil’s Superliga Carnavalesca.
With the theme “The Girl from the Backlands Who Became a TV Star,” the school celebrates the trajectory of the communicator, born in Santana do Ipanema, in the backlands of Alagoas state. Granddaughter of a regional landowner, Gardênia maintains strong ties to her origins, which will be represented on the Avenue.
Journey of resilience
The parade portrays Gardênia Cavalcanti’s journey of overcoming, from the interior of Alagoas to her consolidation as one of the prominent names in Brazilian television. The presentation highlights the strength, perseverance, and determination that marked her personal and professional path.
Tradição’s proposal also celebrates the Northeastern people and, especially, Northeastern women, emphasizing female protagonism in Brazilian culture and media.
Tradição will be the 11th school to parade. The parade will be broadcast live on TV Brasil and on the network’s official YouTube channel.
