Former Special Group judge Beatriz Badejo takes over as choreographer for União de Maricá’s lead dancing couple ahead of its 2027 debut.
As União de Maricá prepares for its first parade in Rio’s Special Group, the school announced Beatriz Badejo as the new choreographer for Rute Alves and Julinho Nascimento, who will represent the school’s flag in its upcoming debut.
Beatriz was welcomed at the school’s warehouse in São Cristóvão and has already joined the artistic team. With a degree in Physical Education from UERJ and a postgraduate degree in Costume and Carnival from UVA, she brings extensive experience as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer to the project.
“My expectations couldn’t be better. I’ll be choreographing a couple with excellence in dance. I’ve followed Rute and Julinho for years as a judge, and now it’s my turn to be on their side,” said Beatriz.
Between 1989 and 2020, Beatriz served 24 times as a judge for the master-sala and porta-bandeira category in Rio’s Special Group, an experience that strengthens her new role with União de Maricá.
