Carnival Monday in Belo Horizonte gets a boost from Brazilian rap with Bloco do Malvadão, led by Xamã. The event takes place on February 16th, with gathering set for 9am on Avenida Brasil, between Sergipe and Pernambuco streets. The parade starts at 10am, with dispersion scheduled for 2pm.

In its second edition in the Minas Gerais capital, the street party promises to repeat the success of its debut. The concept brings the aesthetic and energy of the Rio-born artist to the streets, with a repertoire blending rap and pop on a sound truck format. Thousands of revelers are expected to transform the downtown area into a major Carnival hotspot.

The Xamã phenomenon

Born Geizon Fernandes in Sepetiba, Rio de Janeiro, Xamã has established himself as one of Brazilian rap’s most prominent names. With magnetic stage presence and hits that conquered millions of fans, the artist marked his trajectory with successes like “Malvadão 3”, which gives the street party its name. Beyond music, Xamã has also expanded into audiovisual work, broadening his reach and recognition in Brazil’s cultural scene.

Bloco do Malvadão is sponsored by Ambev, through the State Cultural Incentive Law of Minas Gerais and the Belo Horizonte City Hall, via Belotur. It’s produced by the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism (Secult-MG) and the Government of Minas Gerais – Aqui o Trem Prospera. Production is by Cardápio Musical.
