Elisa Veeck and Mari Palma host CNN Brasil’s multiplatform Oscar 2026 coverage, featuring a six-hour live react, LA dispatches, and a spotlight on Brazilian film.
Six hours live for cinema’s biggest night
CNN Brasil is gearing up for an ambitious multiplatform broadcast of the 98th Academy Awards, set for Sunday, March 15, 2026. Anchored by Elisa Veeck and Mari Palma, the coverage runs from 7 PM to 1 AM — six straight hours of live programming.
The format is built for the digital generation: a full-scale YouTube live stream, simulcast on CNN Pop and broadcast TV, structured as a real-time react show. Viewers can engage directly through the platform’s live chat, with questions and comments woven into the broadcast throughout the night.
Guests and a Brazilian spotlight
The guest lineup blends film critics, content creators, and prominent artists. Confirmed names include actor Roney Villela, who plays a hitman in the Brazilian entry The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto); actor Silvero Pereira; content creators Karol Pinheiro and Léo Bagarolo; and host Pedro Pacífico, known as Bookster.
The Secret Agent will receive dedicated coverage throughout the night, including exclusive artwork, an awards retrospective, and an in-depth look at Wagner Moura‘s career. The film competes in four Oscar categories.
From Los Angeles to Recife
International coverage includes live reports from Los Angeles, tracking the red carpet and backstage moments. Back in Brazil, the city of Recife joins the broadcast from the iconic cinema that became famous as a filming location for The Secret Agent.
The CNN Brasil website will run real-time winner updates throughout the evening, with special attention to any Brazilian wins.
Coverage kicks off March 1
Pre-Oscar programming starts March 1, with daily content across newscasts, expert interviews, and the popular Oscar Prediction Pool on social media. On Monday, March 16, CNN Brasil revisits the night’s highlights, Brazil’s results, and the memes that took over the internet.
