Cinema Inflável — Brazil’s traveling inflatable cinema project — arrives in Maricá, in greater Rio de Janeiro, for a special Easter weekend run. Presented by the Ministry of Culture and Nubank, with support from TV Brasil and produced by D+3 Produções, the event sets up a 10 x 6-meter screen at the Orla do Parque Nanci from April 3 to 5, with screenings from 7 PM each night.

Each session holds up to 800 people. Born in 2013 as a social initiative tied to Open Air Brasil, the project reached roughly 40,000 attendees in 2025 alone, spanning 12 areas in the Federal District and 12 communities in Bahia. Maricá is the latest stop on a Rio de Janeiro state tour that previously visited Taquara, Iguaba Grande, and Tanguá.

Three films, three nights

Friday, April 3 opens with “The Wild Robot” (dubbed, all ages), the animated story of robot Roz learning to survive on a remote island and forming unexpected bonds with wildlife. A short film, “A Herança Sangrenta” by Carla Dewing, precedes the feature.

Saturday, April 4 brings “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” (dubbed, ages 10+), following the swashbuckling cat on a quest to reclaim his nine lives. The evening opens with the short “O Esperançar de Maricá” by Pedro D’Avila, Pedro Freitas, and João Carlos.

Sunday, April 5 closes the weekend with the Brazilian feature “Nosso Sonho – A História de Claudinho e Buchecha” (ages 12+), a tribute to two legends of Brazilian funk melody. The short “Saci do Espraiado” by Diego Drosa and Ricardo de Souza opens the night.

Workshops and live music at 6 PM

Each evening kicks off at 6 PM with the musical duo Muriquinho PequeninoJu Werneck and Yure Silva — offering interactive workshops rooted in Brazilian folk traditions. Friday features “Where Does Rhythm Come From?”; Saturday brings “Toy Voice”, a vocal experimentation workshop, plus the Baile Bom dance party; Sunday closes with “Roda Muriquinho”, blending music, dance, and play. Free popcorn rounds out the experience.

The tour continues through Rio de Janeiro state until May. Next stop: Saquarema, April 10–12, followed by Guapimirim and Rio Bonito. Follow the full schedule at @cinemainflavel.
