French hit “The New Toy” lands on NetMovies this Thursday (19), blending humor and social critique in a touching story.
The free streaming platform NetMovies adds new highlights on February 19, including the French comedy “The New Toy” (Le Nouveau Jouet). Directed by James Huth and starring Jamel Debbouze, Daniel Auteuil, and Simon Faliu, the film promises both laughter and reflection.
In the story, one of France’s richest men allows his son to pick any birthday gift from his department store. To everyone’s surprise, the boy chooses Sami, the night watchman, as his new “toy” — leading to unexpected lessons about empathy and privilege.
“The New Toy” refreshes the 1976 classic with a clever and heartfelt take on social inequality.
