“Eu, Que Te Amei” portrays the intense love and challenges of the couple Yves Montand and Simone Signoret.
The French Film Festival of Brazil showcases this unreleased feature, directed by Diane Kurys, which premiered in the Cannes Classics section at Cannes this year.
Roschdy Zem stars as Yves Montand, an iconic actor and singer, while Marina Foïs plays Simone Signoret, the first French actress to win the Best Actress Oscar in 1960.
The film explores a relationship marked by deep love, political engagement, and scandals, including Yves’s famous affair with Marilyn Monroe.
Despite the crises, Simone never assumed the victim role, and the couple maintained an intense bond until Signoret’s death in 1985.
The festival, in its 16th edition, runs from November 27 to December 10 in cinemas nationwide. Sponsors include Varilux, BNP Paribas, Pernod Ricard, Edenred, Voltalia, Fairmont, and Air France.
Institutional support from the Ministry of Culture, via the Rouanet Law, and the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, Municipal Culture Secretariat, emphasizes the event’s relevance.
