Brazilian actor Leonardo Sidney writes and stars in “In Between The Lines,” a romantic comedy short premiering in Los Angeles in February 2026.
Born in Ribeirão Preto, Leonardo Sidney studies at the Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles and has several original projects in his portfolio. He now takes on dual roles as writer and lead actor alongside American actress Rysha Joy.
The short portrays friendship and love in a light and humorous way: two best friends wake up believing they might be pregnant, triggering fast-paced, heartfelt, and sincere dialogues.
Leonardo emphasizes the collaborative process: “Writing with someone is both a challenge and a gift. Collaboration takes you out of control and allows something new to happen.”
For Rysha Joy, their chemistry made the screenplay flow: “The script is fun, but it also has soul. Writing together was like continuing a dialogue that already existed.”
Filmed in a Los Angeles studio under the direction of Sonal Shah and Nick Bonano, the short will screen at the Stella Adler film showcase in February 2026, bringing together agents, directors, and industry producers.
Despite his international career, Leonardo keeps his base in Ribeirão Preto: “This is where art first called me, and I carry my essence from here to the world.”
The project balances humor, vulnerability, and tenderness, celebrating the power of genuine bonds and stories told from two perspectives.
Leonardo Sidney is also the author of the short film “Look Up” and the solo show “This Road Never Ends,” gaining recognition for bringing a Brazilian voice to international cinema.
