O Gênio do Crime — one of Brazil’s most cherished works of juvenile fiction — is finally coming to the big screen. Paris Filmes released the official trailer on Wednesday (April 15), unveiling a clever counterfeit scheme involving a rare World Cup sticker that threatens to bankrupt the legendary Escanteio factory.
The Gang Is Back
True to João Carlos Marinho‘s original novel, young investigators João, Edmundo, Berenice, and Pituca — played by Francisco Galvão, Samuel Estevam, Bella Alelaf, and Breno Kaneto — lead the investigation. Creative plans, chases, and unexpected twists define the pace of the story.
Standing in their way is the sharp and witty detective Mister Mistério, portrayed by Marcos Veras. The race to gather clues, infiltrate secret conversations, and stay safe promises a thrilling ride for audiences of all ages.
Nothing will be simple in this adventure — not even staying one step ahead of Mister Mistério.
A Seasoned Creative Team
The project was conceived and produced by Tiago Mello, known for the acclaimed series “3%.” Direction is by Lipe Binder (“Betinho: No Fio da Navalha,” “Império”), with cinematography by Pedro Sotero (“Bacurau”), production design by Thales Junqueira, and screenplay by Ana Reber.
The cast also includes Ailton Graça, Douglas Silva, and Rafael Losso. The film is produced by Boutique Filmes in co-production with Globo Filmes.

The feature was made possible with resources from Fomento Cult SP ProAC, a program of the São Paulo State Government through the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries. It also received support from ANCINE — Brazil’s National Cinema Agency — via the Audiovisual Sectoral Fund and the Audiovisual Law.
