TNT and HBO Max to stream 31st Critics Choice Awards live

TNT and HBO Max will broadcast the 31st Critics Choice Awards live on January 4, straight from Santa Monica.

The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards®, honoring the best in film and television, will air live on HBO Max and TNT on January 4. The ceremony will take place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, celebrating the most prominent artists of the year.

The Critics Choice Association has announced this year’s nominees in both Film and Television categories. HBO Max stood out with 27 nominations.

HBO and Max lead nominations

Highlights include Hacks (4 nominations), The Pitt (4), Task: Unidade Especial (3), The Righteous Gemstones (3), and The Gilded Age (2). Individual nods went to Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us, Danielle Brooks for Peacemaker, and Ramy Youssef for Mountainhead.

Other nominated titles include Harley Quinn, When No One Is Watching, Conan O’Brien Must Go, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and comedy specials like Caleb Hearon: Model Comedian and Marc Maron: Panic!.

Warner Bros. shines in film categories

In film, Warner Bros. stood out with Sinners earning 17 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan and Best Director for Ryan Coogler. One Battle After Another followed with 14 nominations featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti.

Other acknowledged titles include The Hour of Evil with four nominations and Superman for Best Visual Effects.

Chelsea Handler returns as host

Comedian and bestselling author Chelsea Handler returns to host the Critics Choice Awards® for the fourth consecutive year.

Presented by the Critics Choice Association, the event gathers over 500 media critics from the U.S. and Canada and is recognized as a strong indicator for the Oscars®.

The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards® airs live on January 4 via HBO Max and TNT.
