Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for *Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie*, the highly anticipated sequel to the global hit *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*. Produced by Illumination and Nintendo, the film is set to premiere exclusively in theaters in April 2026.
An intergalactic adventure
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic — the duo behind the first film — this new chapter promises to take Mario’s journey beyond the stars. With a screenplay by Matthew Fogel and music by Brian Tyler, the movie continues the epic, comedic, and heartfelt storytelling that captivated audiences worldwide.
In *Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie*, after saving the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario (Chris Pratt) embarks on an intergalactic mission to confront a new cosmic villain. The adventure reunites fan-favorite characters Luigi (Charlie Day), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and the fearsome Bowser (Jack Black).
All-star voice cast and creative team
The stellar voice cast features Chris Pratt (Jurassic World), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), Jack Black (Minecraft: The Movie), Keegan-Michael Key (Jogo Sujo), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Minions: The Rise of Gru). According to Universal, the sequel will be “a cosmic journey filled with action, humor, and heart — expanding Mario’s universe like never before.”
