Released today alongside a fresh poster, the second trailer positions the film as the direct follow-up to “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” In Brazil alone, the 2023 hit drew more than 6.6 million moviegoers.

The trailer introduces Yoshi and higher stakes

The new footage marks the first on-screen reveal of Yoshi, who is set to play a central role in this intergalactic chapter. It also teases new action and comedic beats, bringing back familiar fan favorites while raising the scale of the challenges.

Returning directors and creative team

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return to direct. The script is by Matthew Fogel, with a score by Brian Tyler—keeping the core team intact while promising a bigger, more emotional ride.

Voice cast confirmed

The voice lineup includes returning stars Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek).

What the story is about

After saving the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario and friends face a new cosmic threat that puts the entire galaxy in danger. The film promises bigger set pieces, fast-paced humor, and Yoshi’s long-awaited cinematic debut.

Produced by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the sequel doubles down on the studios’ partnership. It opens April 1, exclusively in theaters.
