Arraial do Pavulagem Institute hosts the 18th Cordão do Galo from Jan 5-11 in Cachoeira do Arari (PA), offering cultural workshops, citizenship actions, and a parade.
Since 2008, it gathers kids, teens, and families for cultural training and Amazonian heritage preservation. Features workshops, experiences, and a street procession finale.
Culture as right and change
Cordão do Galo honors Marajó traditions, women’s empowerment, and environmental education. Part of “Arrastão do Pavulagem – Amazon Culture at COP30”, sponsored by Petrobras via Federal Culture Incentive Law.
The project builds on community listening and exchange, showing culture’s role in social transformation.
Júnior Soares, Arraial co-founder, underscores its social impact.
