‘Paraísos Fantásticos’ opens April 4 at Galeria Dobra and Artnova: 28 artists explore utopias, memory, and critiques of the contemporary world. Free admission.
One concept, 28 different visions
What does paradise look like today? Galeria Dobra and Artnova pose that question with the group exhibition Paraísos Fantásticos (Fantastic Paradises), opening to the public on April 4, 2026, as part of the Circuito Bhering at Fábrica Bhering, in the Santo Cristo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro.
Curated by Bruno Castaing, the show brings together 28 artists who examine paradise as an imaginary, subjective, and poetic territory. Mental landscapes, personal fictions, memories, utopias, and critical visions of the contemporary world form the conceptual backbone of the exhibition.
The participating artists
The exhibition features works by Sergio Alberto, Heloisa Castor, Priscilla Ramos, Marcelino Cruz, Ricardo Garcia, Mônica Machado, Mário Coutinho, and Lucia Bianconi, among others. Also taking part are Illi Picato, Juan Ribeiro, Luiza Vieira, Jasmina, Jac Carrara, Umberto França, Andrea Penteado, Ana Luiza, Luís Teixeira, Aline Sampin, Mehdi Alami, Valéria Bragança, Denise Braune, Fátima Vollú, Monika Moreira, Marcelo Rezende, Bruno Castaing, Adriana Montenegro, Lalin Witch, and Matthieu Balard.
The diversity of artistic languages and perspectives is one of the defining features of the selection. Each artist brings their own map of what paradise could — or could never — be.
Contemporary art at the heart of Circuito Bhering
Circuito Bhering is one of Rio de Janeiro’s most anticipated cultural events. Holding the show at Fábrica Bhering reinforces the exhibition’s experimental, accessible character — a venue that has long hosted artistic experiences outside of traditional gallery circuits.
Paraísos Fantásticos runs through April 25, 2026. Admission is free and the venue is accessible.
