Artist and researcher Paty Lopes crafts Abraça from artistic research focused on early childhood. The piece draws from workshops and experiences emphasizing care, time, and listening in children’s theater.

Team and Creation

Bellas Silveira, actress and movement director, shapes the physicality. Together, they craft slow rhythms and amplified gestures that honor young viewers’ perceptions. Bellas returns from Europe with fresh insights on movement and presence.

Francisco Leite designs sets, costumes, and props. His aesthetic nods to Northeastern Brazilian embroidery and tender memories. “When I think of Abraça, it’s like decorating my child’s room, stitching every detail with love,” the artist shares.

Ciça, a nearly eight-meter cloth snake, drives the story under Marise Nogueira’s animation supervision. She brings playful, safe life to the character for young audiences.

About the Show

Abraça delves into psychomotor and sensory themes through tactile, sonic, and emotional cues. Labs with kids from public school and private daycare shaped Ciça interactions, tackling fear of the unknown and turning it into affection.

The staging weaves in self-descriptive text and Libras signs, thanks to Analu Faria and Christofer Moreira. Karina Cavalcanti composes a gentle original score attuned to children’s inner rhythms, including neurodiverse ones.

Synopsis

A girl spends her day in a nature cabin, sharing insects, enchanted objects, textures, and sounds with kids. A noise sparks fear: a snake? Between fright and curiosity, an unlikely friendship blooms, inviting exploration of sounds, rhythms, textures, and affections. Abraça urges feeling, touching, hearing, and seeing mindfully.

Bring your mat and sit close for this adventure.
