AfroReggae Audiovisual receives the Pedro Ernesto Medal for its cultural and social impact in Rio de Janeiro.
On the 25th, AfroReggae Audiovisual will be awarded the Pedro Ernesto Medal, the highest honor granted by the Rio de Janeiro City Council. Proposed by councilman Salvino Oliveira, the recognition highlights the group’s contributions to culture, innovation and social impact.
José Júnior, founder of AfroReggae and creator of its audiovisual division, will receive the medal on behalf of the group.
The tribute acknowledges the transformative role of AfroReggae Audiovisual, responsible for productions that amplify the representation of the favelas and bring powerful narratives to millions of viewers. Highlights include:
· All four seasons of Arcanjo Renegado;
· The series Veronika and O Jogo que Mudou a História;
· The documentary series Belo: Perto Demais da Luz;
· Neguinho da Beja-flor: Soberano da Avenida.
The honor also celebrates the high-level team behind the productions, whose technical skill, creativity and social commitment have established AfroReggae Audiovisual as one of the leading forces in Brazilian audiovisual production.

The ceremony will feature notable professionals:
Valéria Amorim – Executive Producer Oversees all stages of audiovisual creation, combining management, artistic sensibility and strategic vision.
Paulão Costa – Executive Producer With more than 30 years of experience and over 100 films, he is a major reference in the Brazilian audiovisual sector.
The journeys of José Júnior, Valéria and Paulão meet in the shared mission of using audiovisual production as a tool for transformation and for amplifying the voices of the favelas.

Councilman Salvino Oliveira, born in Cidade de Deus and an advocate for inclusion, culture and innovation, proposed the award to highlight those transforming Rio through art and communication.
