Located in São Paulo’s Beco do Batman, the Alma da Rua Gallery presents the solo exhibition “Between Affection and Absence” starting November 29. The show closes the gallery’s annual schedule and features unpublished works centered on feminine figures marked by introspection, melancholy and strength.

According to Pavanelli, the figures reflect internal states rather than portraits of others. “There is a sad sweetness, a calm beauty and an emotional density that invites the viewer to linger,” she says.

The works explore latent marks from her personal journey. “It’s not about healing, but about the process of rebuilding softly, learning to feel whole even in pieces,” she explains. The exhibition navigates a space between presence and absence, evoking memory, silence and reconnection.

The piece “Chão de cacos” recalls her past in the countryside and serves as a metaphor for resilience. Painting, for her, is an act of gathering what was scattered and reshaping what was broken, in dialogue with the body, the home and the plants she cultivates.

These elements appear as living presences tied to affection and care. “The exhibition is about remaining, about recognizing that it is possible to bloom even when everything seems broken,” the artist concludes.
