From Feb 10, Tannat Almadén 50 Years becomes a guided pairing with local sheep cheeses in Santana do Livramento, Brazil.
After opening a new chapter in Brazilian wine tourism with the Miolo Winery’s tourism complex in Vale dos Vinhedos, Miolo Wine Group is turning attention to another cornerstone of its story: Vinícola Almadén, in Rio Grande do Sul’s Campanha region.
Tannat Almadén 50 Years and Campanha Gaúcha
Named “Tannat Almadén 50 Years – History and Passion,” the program celebrates five decades of the grape at the estate. Almadén’s first Tannat vineyard was planted in 1976.
More than a standard visit, the itinerary works like a ritual focused on time, place, and craftsmanship. It invites guests to connect wine, people, and terroir in a hands-on way.
“A Temporada 2026 foi pensada para revelar, em cada uma das nossas unidades, aquilo que torna cada terroir único. Na Almadén, essa identidade passa, inevitavelmente, pela Tannat. Celebrar seus 50 anos é reconhecer a história que construímos na Campanha Gaúcha, convidando o visitante a viver o vinho de forma profunda, sensorial e verdadeira, em contato direto com a origem.” — Artur Tremper Farias, gerente de Enoturismo da Miolo Wine Group
What the experience includes
The route starts at the Semente Almadén Museum, continues to the panoramic deck, and then moves into the cellar area, highlighting Almadén’s reputation for innovation in Brazil.
The finale is a guided tasting of different Tannat expressions paired with artisan sheep cheeses from the region—an on-theme match for Santana do Livramento’s title as the National Capital of Sheep.
In the glass: three Tannats plus a bold finish
The lineup features three wines: Tannat Almadén Jovem, Tannat Reserva Miolo – Carbonic Maceration, and Tannat Vinhas Velhas, an icon wine from Miolo’s “Seven Legendary” collection.
To close, the Brandy Miolo Imperial 15 Years is paired with Toblerone Dark 50% cocoa, a surprising match designed to linger as memory.
Groups are limited to 15 people. Tours run Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with advance booking required. The experience also spotlights why the Campanha region, near the 31st parallel, has become a notable home for Tannat in Brazil.
