Art for Pets sculptures occupy public spaces in São Paulo to support Instituto Caramelo and promote responsible adoption.
Since Wednesday (12), the Art for Pets sculptures have been turning São Paulo into an open-air gallery that highlights the importance of animal welfare. The initiative brings together around 30 dog and cat sculptures, each 1.4 meters tall, which were installed in parks, squares, terminals and streets to raise awareness about responsible adoption.
After more than a month on display at MorumbiShopping, where visitors followed the artists’ creative process, the works moved to new locations. The sculptures are now at the Pinheiros, Lapa, Barra Funda and Tietê terminals, Parque do Povo, Parque da Independência, the InterContinental Hotel on Alameda Santos and Cetenco Plaza on Paulista Avenue.
In the coming days, more pieces will arrive in parks and squares across the city, where they will remain on display until December 19.
The action highlights an alarming reality. It is estimated that more than 30 million dogs and cats live in abandonment in Brazil. Art for Pets was created by Artery, a reference in large urban art exhibitions with a social purpose.
Charity auction for animal welfare
At the end of the exhibition, all sculptures will be auctioned, with 100% of the profits donated to Instituto Caramelo, a national reference in animal rescue and rehabilitation that celebrates ten years in 2025.
The funds raised will help expand the institution’s work in rescuing, rehabilitating and finding new homes for dogs, cats and other animals.
“Art for Pets is an invitation to empathy. By occupying the city with art, we generate visibility for a cause that still needs significant attention. Each sculpture represents a story of affection, resilience and hope, and seeing these works on the streets shows that love and care can inspire social transformation”.
The online auction begins on November 18 and remains open until December 12. After the street exhibition, part of the works will be featured in a special show in the city.
About Instituto Caramelo
The official partner of the project, Instituto Caramelo has spent a decade transforming the lives of abandoned animals. Founded in February 2015, it maintains a shelter in Ribeirão Pires that houses around 300 rescued animals in a 27,000-square-meter space.
The facility includes a 24-hour surgical center, physiotherapy unit, training area, three outdoor zones, and 30 catteries and kennels supported by a team of more than 40 professionals.
The institute requires around R$300,000 per month to operate, funded through donations, partnerships and sales from its own store. More than 6,800 responsible adoptions have been carried out since its founding.
