Colombian dancer and choreographer Mauricio Flórez brings his immersive solo performance to Sesc Copacabana from March 5 to 15, at 7 p.m. The show, supported by the Sesc RJ Pulsar Cultural Program, blends dance, theater, and sensory experiences to explore the connection between human and plant life.

On stage, light, sound, scents, books, and flowers create a shifting atmosphere. Each night’s story is shaped by the audience, who choose which of the artist’s 16 memories will come to life, culminating in the performer’s symbolic transformation into a flower.

“This work expands the idea of life beyond the human and invites us to learn from plants,” says Mauricio Flórez.

Premiered in São Paulo and nominated for the APCA Award in 2024, the piece combines mythology, botany, and art into a sensory and philosophical experience. Structured in two parts — one narrative and one physical — it urges audiences to slow down and reconnect with the natural rhythm of the body.

Free Workshop: “Metamorphoses of the Body”

Flórez also leads the free workshop “Metamorphoses of the Body” on March 10 and 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Designed for artists and performing arts students, the sessions intertwine movement research with mythological and scientific reflections on plant life and intelligence.
