BioParque do Rio extends its holiday schedule and opens every day through late January, with family activities included in admission.
During school holidays, BioParque do Rio expands operations and, as a high-season exception, will open every day through the end of January. The zoo at Quinta da Boa Vista will also welcome visitors on Mondays and Tuesdays, adding a daily option for leisure, environmental education, and close contact with wildlife.
Beyond the main visitor route, guests can join a special program of recreational activities included in the ticket, scheduled throughout the month. The experiences focus on children and families and run at set times depending on each weekend’s agenda.
Holiday schedule
On January 10–11 and again on January 31 and February 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the park hosts the Bobbie Goods activity.
On January 16–17, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the program features face painting for kids.
On January 24–25, also from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the venue welcomes Tio Alex activities, with easel painting workshops, modeling clay, recycled toys, and a Bobbie Goods workshop.
Axolotl Kingdom and education areas
Among the zoo’s educational spaces, the Axolotl Kingdom highlights the Mexican amphibian known for keeping larval traits even in adulthood. Inspired by Día de los Muertos and the canals of Xochimilco, the area features panels on natural history and conservation.
The animals were rescued by Brazil’s Federal Highway Police in 2022, spent time at BioParque Pantanal, and were later transferred to Rio de Janeiro.
Animals and facilities
Located at Quinta da Boa Vista, BioParque do Rio is home to around 650 animals from 124 species across 56 enclosures. Highlights include Simba the lion, Tim and Bocão the hippos, and Baloo the spectacled bear.
The visit also offers interactive attractions, food options, a gift shop, and parking.
