Themed decoration, Santa Claus and educational activities mark December 6 and 7 at BioParque do Rio.
Special Christmas program
BioParque do Rio officially enters the Christmas season this weekend with themed decoration and special programming. On December 6 and 7, Santa Claus will be at the park to interact and take photos with visitors, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
During the same period, the activity One Single Earth will take place in celebration of World Soil Day. The action includes environmental preservation dynamics and public participation in an interactive map, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Workshops and educational actions throughout the month
The Christmas agenda continues throughout the month with workshops and educational actions. Among them, the Paper Toy Workshop, on December 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., invites children to build paper toys.
The activity is playful and brings the public closer to environmental themes through creativity and material reuse.
Daily opening during the holiday season
The end-of-year season also brings an important change. Starting December 15, the park will be open every day until the end of January.
As a result, visitation opportunities increase during the vacation and holiday period.
Axolotl Kingdom integrates educational circuit
As part of its commitment to environmental education, the visitation circuit features the Axolotl Kingdom, an environment dedicated to the Mexican amphibian known for maintaining larval characteristics even in adulthood.
Inspired by Día de los Muertos and the canals of Xochimilco, the space presents educational panels on natural history and conservation.
The animals in the enclosure were rescued by the Federal Highway Police in 2022 and taken to BioParque Pantanal before being transferred to Rio.
Structure and attractions for the whole family
Located at Quinta da Boa Vista, BioParque houses about 650 animals from 124 species, distributed across 56 enclosures.
Visitors can see the lion Simba, the hippos Tim and Bocão, the spectacled bear Baloo, and other species.
The space also offers interactive attractions for children, food options, a souvenir shop, and parking.
