Free event on Nov 14–15 celebrates music as a cinematic protagonist, featuring panels, performances, and “City of God” screening.
CAIXA Cultural São Paulo presents the 3rd Luz, Câmera e Close Music in Cinema Festival (FLCCMC 2025) on November 14 and 15. Created and produced by Paulo Bastos with curation by Tony Berchmans, the event highlights music as a key element of audiovisual storytelling.
The program immerses audiences in the world of film music through panels, audiovisual performances, cinepiano sessions, masterclasses, debates, and film screenings. It aims to bridge generations and artistic languages by connecting composers, directors, and sound professionals.
Program highlights
On Friday, November 14, the festival features a documentary showcase on great masters of film music, introduced by curator Tony Berchmans before each session.
On Saturday, November 15, the lineup includes the panel Narrative Music for New Technologies with Mateus Polati and Fernando Pepe, followed by an audiovisual performance by composer and instrumentalist Teco Fuchs, joined by visual artist Diogo Marques and cellist Júlio Pelloso.
The program continues with the panel The Sound of Cinema – Editing and Mixing featuring João Victor dos Santos and Guta Roim, and the debate Film Music – Brazil Panorama with Plínio Profeta, Lucas Marcier, and Dainara Toffoli.
The festival closes with a screening of the classic City of God (2002), followed by a discussion with composers Antonio Pinto and Ed Côrtes, and a video participation by director Fernando Meirelles, celebrating 23 years of the film’s legacy in Brazilian and world cinema.
Festival background
Founded in 2017, the festival was created to honor major figures and themes in Brazilian audiovisual culture. The first edition, held at CCBB-SP, paid tribute to Fernando Faro and featured panels, screenings, and performances by João Donato, Toquinho, Leci Brandão, and Ná Ozzetti.
The second edition, held during the pandemic, took place entirely online and honored Ennio Morricone. It included performances, panels, and workshops with artists such as André Abujamra, Antonio Pinto, Tony Berchmans, and Alexandre Guerra.
