The Cia Móvel de Teatro combines theater, dance and circus to explore productivity and sustainability in Niterói.
The children’s play “Um Lugar Logo Ali” by Cia Móvel de Teatro will be performed at Teatro da UFF in Niterói on November 15 and 16, Saturday and Sunday, at 4 p.m.. The show invites audiences to reflect on the fast pace of modern life, the excesses of contemporary society and the effects of productivity on human relationships and the environment.
A reflection on modern life
Directed by Cátia Costa and written by Helena Hamam, the play blends theater, dance and circus into a poetic and visually engaging narrative. The story takes place in Eficiência City, a fast-paced, compulsively happy city governed by the unseen Marytocracia, who dictates every aspect of life.
The main characters, Hábito and Rotina, see their lives changed by the arrival of Contemplação, a traveler who challenges the city’s way of life and offers a new perspective on time and nature.
“Eficiência City represents how the logic of productivity infiltrates every aspect of modern life. The arrival of Contemplação symbolizes the recovery of humanity and our connection with nature,” says Helena Hamam.
Sustainable and accessible design
The production features an on-stage sign language interpreter, reinforcing its commitment to accessibility. The costumes, by Erika Schwarz, are made entirely from reused materials, while the set design by Bianca Bühring and Asa Produções Artísticas follows the same sustainable approach.
The original soundtrack by Aline Peixoto guides the performance and supports the movements of the cast: Daniel Leuback, Helena Hamam, Kai Lopes and Raphael Pompeu.
Message of sensitivity
For director Cátia Costa, nominated for the Shell Award for Best Direction, the goal is to reconnect audiences with their emotions. “We live in a world where progress turns us into machines. We must rediscover the scent of flowers and the beauty of the sunset,” she says.
The play addresses relevant topics such as mental health, sustainability and diversity, encouraging audiences to slow down and see the world with empathy and awareness.
