Riante, a children’s show blending dance, circus, music and language learning, offers free performance at Sesc Valença on November 29.
Riante is an interactive experience for children that combines dance, circus, music and language learning. Touring Sesc RJ units from May to November, the show features dynamic, original and educational songs that highlight similarities between Portuguese and Spanish, encouraging children to dance and have fun.
Produced by the Cia Circo da Silva and selected in the SESC Pulsar Program, the show stimulates early childhood development through rhythmic diversity, toys, special effects, comic interactions and clowning elements.
“In every song, children are surprised by the mix of rhythms and by the appearance of extramusical elements such as toys and special effects. On stage, the band interacts with the audience through humorous characters, circus acts and choreography,” says Paula Preiss, creator and director of the company.
Chilean artist Arturo Cussen, co-founder of the company, highlights that the show creates a playful interaction with the Spanish language, as seen in the track “Moviendo Mexendo”. “With lively choreography, the show encourages the audience to move while teaching children parts of the human body in Spanish,” he says.
Riante has been featured in major cultural events in Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and several Brazilian states, including the Guadalajara Book Fair, the Manizales International Theatre Festival, the Anjos do Picadeiro International Clown Meeting, the Rio de Janeiro Circus Festival, the First Childhood Arts Festival, the Sesc RJ Circuit, the Sesc RJ Winter Festival and the Santiago Book Fair.
Paula Preiss emphasizes that children enjoy the inclusion of South American languages and the blend of Portuguese and Spanish. “It creates a place of connection, showing words that are identical and others that differ, building a playful relationship between children and South America,” she states.
