“Meu Melhor Amigo” blends live dog performances and human drama to explore love, loss, and emotional rebirth.
The play “Meu Melhor Amigo” will be performed for free on March 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Unisc Central Auditorium in Santa Cruz do Sul. The sensitive production combines acting and the live participation of trained dogs, creating an intimate and emotional atmosphere.
The story follows Martin, a brilliant yet emotionally distant scientist who faces deep grief after his brother’s death. His days change when friends gift him Maylon, a dog that guides him toward rediscovering affection and human connection.
Directed by Guilherme Suman and featuring dog behavior expert Rudinho Bombassaro, the performance stands out for its careful lighting, original soundtrack, and emotional pauses. Every aspect of training ensures the animals’ comfort and safety on stage.
Recommended for all audiences, the play resonates with families, students, and professionals in veterinary and behavioral sciences, as well as anyone seeking emotional and meaningful art experiences.
Admission is free, with tickets available in advance through Sympla. Attendees are encouraged to bring dog food donations to support local animal welfare organizations.
Produced under the Federal Cultural Incentive Law (Lei Rouanet), the play has the master sponsorship of Farmina Pet Foods and support from the Ministry of Culture.
