The exhibition “Rusá: Devotion and Celebration” by Minas Gerais photographer Tiago Aguiar opens in Ouro Preto this Saturday, November 29, at the Sala Manoel da Costa Ataíde, Museu da Inconfidência. Free admission until February 22, 2026, featuring photos, tactile and sound installations highlighting the Festa do Rosário do Serro.
Born in Serro, Tiago has lived the Festa do Rosário since childhood and spent ten years documenting it with sensitivity and research, portraying devotion, colors, dances, and key participants in this Bantu-Mineira cultural tradition.
The exhibition is divided into four thematic axes: “Dancers,” “Caravan,” “Fair,” and “lá du rusá,” highlighting individual participants and the symbolic richness of the festival. Audio and QR codes allow visitors to hear stories from masters and traditional healers.
The project is realized by Ponto de Cultura Movimento Áurea, supported by Museu da Inconfidência, Secult MG, and the Ministry of Culture through the Aldir Blanc National Policy.
The opening guided tour takes place on Saturday, 29/11 at 10 AM. No prior registration is required. The exhibition is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM with free admission.
In 2026, Tiago will launch the project “Da Beira do Caminho”, mapping roadside crosses between Belo Horizonte and Serro, reflecting on devotion and care for lives lost on the road.
